I am reading stupid shit by so-called "progressives" and it is stupid and ignorant and not constructive and just plays into the "divide and conquer" mentality. We should all be focusing on deconstructing power over others in general.Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03583539336418817798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840352318204532721.post-73766423413725699112008-11-15T23:44:00.000-08:002008-11-15T23:44:00.000-08:00Thanks for starting up this blog. I'll be reading more here in the future.

I'm wondering what we can do to consolidate our efforts between/among all the oppressed groups and allies.

It's my hope that the painful conversations that have been happening and will be happening in the coming months might really be making new inroads and connections, once the issues are further resolved. I just hope we can get to the table and stay at the table.

Thank you also for bringing up props 6 and 9 too. I saw the Daily Show segment you mention and thought it was awful, irresponsible, embarrassing, and definitely not funny.
It's outrageous that the word in some circles is that Prop 8 passed because of increased voter turnout by people of color. While just this week NAACP, MALDEF, and the Asian Pacific Legal Center filed suit with the state Supreme Court to have Prop 8 annulled. This is partly about being allies, but its also a recognition that an attack like Prop 8 on one minority group has implications for others. Now if only the leading LGBT organizations had the same sense of solidarity and interconnection. --Laura B.LBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12766600925561575110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840352318204532721.post-91510711513996382402008-11-15T14:21:00.000-08:002008-11-15T14:21:00.000-08:00Excellent and articulate post.
